GiantX is promoting Jack J. Williams to Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The (now former) GX Head of Gaming Tech and founder of the League of Legends companion app iTero will be responsible for the LEC organisation's technology strategy. The goal: build revenue with a consumer product that doesn't depend on the sponsor market.
"Esports will always be in our DNA – but ..."
Jack J. Williams takes over as CTO at GiantX, RunItDown has learned. Previously, he was Head of Gaming Tech of the LEC organisation – more precisely, since GiantX acquired iTero in July 2024, the app he founded.
Asking Williams about the move, he explains:
Esports built GIANTX and it'll always be in our DNA. But a million downloads of iTero proves we have the opportunity to evolve into a whole new beast.
A consumer product is giving us scalable revenue without fist fighting over a limited pool of sponsors, whilst still competing at the very top. There's a lot to do and I'm looking forward to crack on in my new role as CTO.
iTero is a companion app for League of Legends with draft recommendations, a macro coach and in-game overlays. In September, the app reported one million downloads, according to its own figures.

»iTero« just crossed one million downloads. Here's what the League of Legends companion app actually does.
Still aiming for the top of the LEC
According to Williams, GiantX will put more focus on tech and less on esports – though he also stresses that GiantX still wants to compete at the top of the league.
The quote, however, openly names a structural problem many organisations face: a limited pool of sponsors that everyone competes for. A consumer product like iTero makes revenue less dependent on that pool – and gives the organisation behind it more breathing room to finally secure a Worlds spot.
